911PetFind Wiki / How it works
Tags and Pairing
Supported Bluetooth tags and how to attach one to a pet.
A pet wears one Bluetooth tag on its collar. Two families are supported today:
Supported tags
- 911PetFind fob (Holyiot nRF52810) - our configured beacon. Long battery life, works with a shared identity scheme designed for a future iPhone-detection upgrade.
- iTag / iSearching finder fobs - the cheap round fobs sold everywhere. Zero configuration: power on and pair. Identified by a fingerprint of the tag's fixed hardware address, hashed on the phone. Android phones detect these; the Holyiot path is what will cover iOS later.
AirTags and Galaxy SmartTags cannot join: they rotate their identity every few minutes by design (anti-stalking), so no third-party network can follow them.
Pairing (60 seconds)
- Power the tag on (hold its button 3-5 s until it beeps).
- In the app: My Pets, choose the pet, Attach tag.
- Hold the tag against the phone - the strongest tag lists first.
- Tap Pair. Done: the pet's detail page now shows the tag and its last mesh sighting.
One tag per pet. Unpairing frees the tag for another pet. From that moment The Mesh Network tracks it and the Home Zone can guard it.
