Home Zone

The Home Zone turns passive tracking into protection: draw a circle around home, and the network tells you the moment your pet's tag is heard outside it.

Setting it up

On the website: Account Settings, Home zone - click the map on your home, set the radius (default 150 m), save. It applies to all your pets; any pet can opt out or carry its own zone on its pet page.

What triggers what

• Your own phone never alerts. Walks stay silent - the app registers your phone to your account, and its reports are recognised as "the pet is with me".
• Anyone else's phone hearing the tag outside the circle raises the first alert: push and email, "heard 400 m from home", at most one per half hour.
• If it keeps happening - fifteen minutes outside, or the tag moving 300 m further away - the pet is automatically marked lost: last-seen is set to the newest ping, the public map lights up, and the full Alerts and Notifications machinery engages.
• Any ping back inside the circle stands the alert down. Once auto-lost has fired, only the owner can mark the pet safe - deliberately.

Optional: base station

An old phone at home, plugged in with Background Tag Watch on, can be flagged as the home base station. Then silence itself becomes a signal: if the station stops hearing the tag at home for half an hour, you are told. If the station itself dies, you get a "base station offline" notice instead of a false alarm.
