The walkthrough
How Pawsition finds your pet.
You register your pet -- once
Sign up with your email. Upload a clear photo of your pet (ideally face-on, in daylight). Add their name, breed, microchip ID if you have one, age, and any distinctive markings like a scar, a collar, or a missing tooth. This is the profile that lights up on the map if you ever need it.
If they go missing, you mark them lost
Open the app, hit 'Mark as lost', drop a pin on the address where you last saw them, and confirm. Your pet's face and last-known location are now on the public map. The shareable URL also doubles as a printable lost-pet poster (rolling out later).
Spotters in the area see your pet on their map
Anyone visiting pawsition.softwareforge.cc/map sees pets that are lost within a few km of them. They don't need an account. They tap your pet's pin, see your contact details masked behind a one-click form, and can submit a sighting in under 30 seconds.
You get notified -- instantly
When someone submits a sighting on your pet, we email you within seconds with the spotter's photo (if they uploaded one), the location, the time, and the spotter's contact info. You decide whether to follow up. No middleman.
You confirm the reunion
Once they're home safe, hit 'Mark as reunited'. Your pet drops off the public map. The spotter who reported the confirmed sighting gets a thank-you email. Their profile stays in your account in case you ever need it again.
